Clyde Ferrill Boland, Jr (Tad), of Greenville, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on October 17, 2025, from complications of dementia.
Tad was born in Charleston, SC, on August 21, 1939. He was the son of the late Clyde Ferrill Boland, Sr, and the late Mary Lou Sineath Boland of Charleston, SC.
He graduated from the Citadel in 1961 with a degree in civil engineering. While at the Citadel, he lettered as a member of the Citadel swim team.
After graduation, he went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force, where he was a navigator on C-130s and flew missions all over the world.
After his time in service, he moved to Greenville and became Vice President and department head of Civil, Architectural, and Structural Engineering at R. S. Noonan. After his time at R. S. Noonan, he became one of the two founding partners that formed Professional Engineering Associates in 1978 in Greenville, and later, became President of Professional Engineering Associates in 2008. He continued his career in engineering at Professional Engineering until he retired in 2015.
He was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a life member of the Association of Citadel Men, and a member of the Greenville Country Club and the Poinsett Club. He was an avid golfer, not only playing with his best buddies but also his daughters and grandchildren. He spent many family vacations at Litchfield beach, where he especially loved fishing with his grandsons and granddaughters. He had a monumental beach and oldies music collection, which he shared with many friends.
Surviving is his wife of 64 years, who he met on a blind date while attending the Citadel, Rebecca Keisler Boland (Becky); his daughters Elizabeth Boland Lewis “Beth” (Billy) and Alicia Boland Denton (Steve); his grandchildren William Lewis (Melissa), Rebecca Granger (Mack), Mary Burkhart (Landon), and Miles Denton; and his great-grandchildren Nathalie Lewis, Jack Granger, Noah Burkhart, and Ellie Lewis.
The family would like to thank Linda Mays for her care of Tad for the last year and half, along with thanking Kiersten and Diane with Interim Hospice Healthcare.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 421 North Main Street, Greenville, SC, 29601, on October 27, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., followed by a reception at The Poinsett Club, 807 East Washington St, Greenville, SC, 29601, with Tad’s favorite beach music. The burial will be private.
