Dick Spivey, of Myrlte Beach, passed away peacefully at home on October 24, 2025. He was born February 28, 1930, in Conway, South Carolina, to Bayliss Larkin Spivey and Eugenia Wood Norton Spivey. He was preceded in death by Karen Watts Spivey, his beloved wife of 53 years. He is survived by his two brothers, James Norton Spivey of Orlando, Florida, and Bayliss Larkin Spivey Jr. of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was a benevolent “Uncle Dick” to nine nieces and nephews, and many more grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was also a loyal friend to countless members of the Conway and Myrtle Beach communities, including in particular his fellow golfers at Conway Country Club and the Dunes Golf and Beach Club. After graduating from The Citadel in 1951 he was commissioned an officer in the United States Air Force where he flew F-84 Thunderjets during the Korean War and F-86 aircraft as part of the Air Defense Command. He later was employed by the Peoples National Bank of Conway, South Carolina as Head Teller and Cashier. With his wife, Karen, he founded and managed the Myrtle Beach KOA Campground and was a leader in the early years of the Myrtle Beach camping industry. He was a lifelong member and one time Elder of the Presbyterian churches in Myrtle Beach and Conway. Dick’s family is grateful to MSA Hospice Care for their help during the last month of his life and especially to Nancy Severt, a close family friend, for the care which she devoted to him for over three years. The family will greet visitors at 1:00 p.m. until 1:50 PM, Wednesday October 29, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Entombment following at Hillcrest Cemetery in Conway, SC with military honors. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to First Presbyterian Church, P.O.
