Courtney Wilson Roberts, age 97, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away October 8th, 2025, at Presbyterian Hospital. He was born in Charleston, South Carolina on April 24th, 1928, to Joseph Matthew Roberts and Charlotte Evelyn Cole Roberts.
After graduating from high school in Charleston, Courtney joined the Marine Corps. Upon discharge from the Marines, he enrolled at The Citadel in Charleston. After graduation, Courtney moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1960 and began working as a labor relations manager for the Associated General Contractors of America. He also worked overseas in Vietnam as a labor relations manager for 3 years.
Courtney loved to read, listen to classical music, birdwatch and watch television. He was a very entertaining storyteller and loved to share his life experiences and beliefs. All told in his distinctive Charleston accent.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Patricia Cole Roberts. He is also survived by his dear sister, Joan Roberts Martin of Rock Hill, South Carolina and many nieces and nephews.
Courtney will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him including his constant furry companion, Rap. Courtney’s goal was to live to be 100. He almost made it.
Per Courtney’s request, there will be no memorial service.
