Forrest Smith Pruitt, Sr., age 80, of Anderson, SC passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at his home.
Born February 5, 1938 in Anderson, SC, he was a son of the late Judge JB Pruitt and Sarah Smith Pruitt. He was also preceded in death by his brother James Burris Pruitt.
He attended Boys High School, The Citadel and graduated from USC Law School. He served two years active duty in the United States Army. Smith was a board member of the YMCA, Vocational Rehabilitation and Anderson Speech and Hearing Clinic, Kiwanis Club from 1966 to 2018, and a lifetime member of First Baptist Church. He was a 50-year active member of the South Carolina Bar Association and an Elks Club member.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha Morrow Pruitt; daughter, Wendy (Marc) Williams; son, Forrest (Melissa) Pruitt, Jr.; brother, Patrick Major Pruitt; five grandchildren, Crayton, Smith, Pruitt (Meagan), and Carlyle Williams and Cameron Norris Pruitt; one great-grandchild, Ava Jane Williams; sister-in-law, Maudianna Pruitt; nephews, Jay Pruitt and John (Heidi) Pruitt; and niece, Jane Pruitt.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 1, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Anderson with Dr. James R. Thomason officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30pm-7:30pm Thursday at the residence, 106 Carter Oaks Drive, Anderson, SC 29621.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to Baraca Sunday School
