Cynthia Smith Phinney, of St. George, wife of Larry Phinney, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 21, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital. A Private Service will be held at St. George Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon from 2:00-4:00 PM at her home, 105 Quaker Road, St. George. Cindy was born in Summerville on December 25, 1946, a daughter of the late, Adam Moses and Doris Myers Smith. She was a 1965 graduate of St. George High School, 1968 graduate of Erskine College and received her Master’s degree from the Citadel. She was a school teacher at St. George Elementary and Williams Memorial for 33 years. She was a member of St. George United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Robert Larry Phinney; a son, Derrick Myers (Sigrid) Phinney, all of St. George and a daughter, Keys Phinney (Milton) Hamilton, North Charleston; grandchildren, Anneleise Margaret Phinney, Rease McGrane Hamilton and Ellis Crawford Hamilton; and brothers, Richard Moses (Jane) Smith and Phillip Myers (Melissa) Smith.
