Donald Louis Player, 71, of Lexington, passed away after a valiant fight with cancer on Sunday, March 11, 2018 surrounded by family and friends. He was born on February 4, 1947 in Lancaster, South Carolina, to the late Clyde Louis and Mary Janette Gulledge Player. Donald was a graduate of Midlands Technical College, USC and The Citadel with a Master’s degree in Business Administration. He retired from Bell South after 30 plus years, Raymond James Financial and Bank of America. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Donald was a member of Columbia’s 8 Ball League, and an avid cyclist and outdoorsman. Donald is survived by his love, Vicki Faile; daughter, Rebekah Player Graber; two sisters, Hope Player (Jim Pappas) and Beverly Gill (Newton Gill); two grandchildren, Jacob Michael and Lillian Morgan; and many nephews, nieces and friends. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Evelyn P. Goodwin, C. Yvonne Mullinax, Linda P. DeBorde and Sandra P. Cramer. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington.
