William (Bill) A. Morley, Jr., 76, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at home in Dahlonega, Georgia. He was born in Mobile, Alabama to William A. Morley, Sr. and Mary Louise Byrd Morley. Bill grew up in Mobile, Alabama. He graduated from UMS in Mobile, Alabama in 1959. Following high school he attended college at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. After college, Bill went into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. Returning from military, Bill began his career in Atlanta with the brokerage business. He was employed with E. F. Hutton and Merrill Lynch. He enjoyed many years as broker and in management. In later years Bill worked with Home Owner Property Management, and was regional manager with Sentry Management. Bill was a member of the Atlanta Jaycees. He enjoyed many community involvements, including being the chairman of the Empty Stocking Fund. Bill married Shirley Britt in [1963] in Atlanta, Georgia. They were married for 54 years. Bill is survived by his spouse Shirley Morley of Dahlonega, Georgia; his daughter Stephanie Morley Hamby and son-in-law (Darrell Hamby) of Dahlonega; his sister Joyce Morley Chappita of New Llana, Louisiana; his aunt Maxine Byrd Russell of Daphne, Alabama and nieces, nephews and other relatives. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William A. Morley Sr. and Mary Louise Morley, stepfather Harvey O. Sumerlin and son, William A. Morley III. A memorial service will be held at Dunwoody Baptist Church, 1445 Mt. Vernon Road, Dunwoody, Georgia at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 30, 2018. A visitation with the family will be held at Dunwoody Baptist at 1:00 pm, January 30, 2018. A private funeral will be held earlier in the morning. Bill and Shirley lived in Sandy Springs, Georgia before moving Dahlonega. They have been members of Dunwoody Baptist for 41 years, and during this time they have shared sadness and joy with a fellowship of Christian love and where their faith was grounded.
