Martin Singer, of Sherman Oaks, Calif., died Dec. 22, 2017. He pedaled with gusto into his 90th year. Born to Esther and Carl Singer in Boston, MA, he served in the US Navy during World War II, attended the Citadel, and Tufts Dental School. Martin practiced general dentistry in Newton Center, MA, and then Alhambra, CA, until the age of 80. He was an avid bike rider, sailor, and a voracious reader. Most importantly he was an affectionate, fun-loving father of Cathy and Larry (Pitts), Richard and Andy (ToniAnn), grandfather of Sara and Ari (Finkelstein), Michael, Joshua, Jennifer, Matt, and Elizabeth and great-grandfather of Zoey, Zachary, and Madison. He resided in Sherman Oaks and was the president of the San Fernando Valley Bicycle Club at age 75, riding over 100 miles a weekend, a member of the Alpha Omega Fraternity at USC, the Alhambra Exchange Club, and the Alhambra Chamber of Commerce. He is most remembered for living life to it’s fullest with his positive attitude and kind heart. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Cecelia and survived by his sister Barbara Rait and sister-in-law, Helen Singer. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
