Graveside services for Colonel Thomas Yancey Barton, Jr., 78, of Columbia, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2017 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with full Military Honors. The family will have a visitation from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 p.m.
Col. Barton was born June 19, 1939 in Lancaster, SC to the late Thomas Yancey Barton, Sr. and Carnell Pettis Barton. He passed away Monday, November 13, 2017. He was an active member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. He served in the United States Marine Corp and was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. He was also an Eagle Scout. Col. Barton was a faithful husband, father, and provider for his loved ones. He sought to faithfully serve his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is rejoicing with him now in the kingdom of Heaven.
Surviving are his wife, Becky Joanne Robinson Barton; daughter, Susan Brittie Dominguez (Patrick) of Raleigh, NC; son, Thomas Yancey Barton, III (Doris) of Graham, NC; daughter, Rebecca Leann Severin (Richard) of Laurens, SC, six granddaughters, and two great-grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that financial gifts be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church mission fund. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
