Keith C. Hinson, 78, of Myrtle Beach, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. Mr. Hinson was born March 5, 1947, in Conway, SC, a son of the late Wendell Edwin and Lucille Ruby Calhoun Hinson of Georgetown, SC. He was predeceased by his daughter Cassie and his brother Charles. He is also predeceased by his beloved hunting dogs and they were the best hunting companions a man could ask for. He was a graduate of Conway High School and attended the Citadel, University of South Carolina and Coastal Carolina University. Keith also served his country in the National Guard and was the owner and founder of Waccamaw Land & Timber Company, a commercial real estate firm he formed in 1981. He served on numerous boards including The E. Craig Wall Sr. School of Business at Coastal Carolina University (Chairman of the Board from 1988-1994), South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, Carolina First Bank, Apache Family Campground, The Coastal Educational Foundation at Coastal Carolina University and The Hollings Cancer Center at The Medical University of South Carolina. He was a proud member of Myrtle Beach Sertoma Club. Keith loved his family and friends unconditionally and he loved to work, make business deals, and loved hunting and fishing. He was the life of the party and loved to entertain, tell jokes, and host Norwegian Duck Drives. Keith is survived by his wife, Dixie Woodward Hinson of Myrtle Beach; his children, Brook Walker and husband Kenan of Murrells Inlet, Kaitland Hinson of Georgetown, Christopher Hinson of Myrtle Beach; his grandchildren, Emmie, Kenan, and Lauchlin of Murrells Inlet, SC, his sister Karen H. Ligon and husband Tom of Georgetown, SC; sister in law Kathy Hinson of Myrtle Beach, SC, several nieces and nephews, and his cat Mingo. He is predeceased by his beloved hunting dogs. The family will receive friends at First Presbyterian Church in the “Kirk Room” between 12:30 and 1:45pm on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, May 21st, 2025, at the First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Conway, SC. There will be a police escort for anyone attending the service from the church and going to the cemetery.
