David Brunson Mann passed away just short of his 76th birthday at home in Greenville, SC. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol Ross Mann, four children Marion Mann (Nate Fowler), David Mann, Jr. (Courtney), Ross Mann and Willie Mann (Heidi), four grandchildren Maddie, Tyler, Walker and Oakley Mann; brother James R. Mann, Jr., sister Virginia (Gee) Camarda, in-laws Jane Ross (Tom Difulco), Mickey Ross (Jamie) and Eddie Ross. He was predeceased by his parents James R. Mann and Virginia Brunson Mann, brother, William W. Mann, and granddaughter Ava Marie Mann.
David would never let us forget that he was voted “best looking” in his Greenville High Class of 1967. He was a proud graduate of the Citadel class of 1971, where he served on the Junior Sword Drill and as 3rd Battalion commander. Following a brief banking career, he found his passion in real estate and land development.
David found much joy in sharing his love for the outdoors with his family. From gigging frogs in Mountain Lake Colony to flounder fishing at Litchfield Beach, he loved teaching kids to “set the hook” and would never let you forget if you failed to net the “doormat” aka flounder. He ran marathons, enjoyed birdwatching, sailing, the Braves, golfing with his sons, and throwing horseshoes. He loved all music especially John Prine, Bruce Springsteen, and telling Alexa to play them over and over again.
Friends and loved ones are invited for a drop-in at the family home to honor his life on Thursday, April 17th from 3 to 6 pm.
Memorials may be made in David’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association of Greenville, 123 W. Antrim Dr., Greenville 29607 www.alz.org/sc.
