Rhonda Rae Kirby, 51, of Summerville, died peacefully in Trident Medical Center on Friday, July 14, 2017, after a hard fought battle with breast cancer. Funeral services will be at 6:00 PM, Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 6:00 PM, Sunday, July 16, 2017, prior to the services. A Memorial service will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, July 17, 2017, at Northwood Baptist Church in North Charleston. Ms. Kirby was born in Florence on December 27, 1965, daughter of Barbara Coward Kirby Myers and the late Ronald William Kirby. Rhonda was a graduate of Lake City High School, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Clemson University and received her Masters of Education from The Citadel. She was a Special Education Teacher at Goose Creek High School and was a member of Northwood Baptist Church of North Charleston. Surviving are her mother and step-father, Maxey M. and Barbara Myers of Lake City; son, Bradley Kirby-Brisley of Summerville; sister, Tory (Paul) Sojourner of Lexington; brother, Kyle Kirby of Lake City; nephews, Hunter and Will Sojourner of Lexington.
