Donald Charles Arns Sr., 73, of Conway passed away Friday May 5, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born February 18, 1944 in New York, New York Donald was a son of the late A. Gordon and Dorothy M. Arns. He is predeceased by his sister Jacqueline and his brother William. Mr. Arns attended the Citadel and graduated from Rockland Community College with an Associate’s Degree. He was a retail manager in NY, NJ, and CT. Don enjoyed golfing and scuba diving, but his greatest passion, other than family, was his love of auto racing. He competed successfully, winning many races and championships throughout his lifetime, most recently The Carolina Cup – a Southeast based road racing series. He was a 50 year member of the SCCA and belonged to the Porsche Club of America for 32 years. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Conway and was an active volunteer at C.A.P. Don’s quick wit and love of life will be truly missed. Survivors include his children Jacquelyn Arns-Rossi and her husband David, Donald Arns and his wife Kathy, and Darren Arns; his partner Beverly Kimbell; brothers Alexander Arns and his wife Linda, Robert Arns and his wife JoAnn; two grandchildren MacKenzie and Riley Arns; and his faithful companion Ari. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at St. Paul Anglican Church, officiated by Father Jason Collins. Memorial donations may be made to the Conway Kiwanis Club P.O. Box 1567, Conway, SC 29528. Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel, is serving the family.
