Alvin Lewis Frank (Al) passed away at his home in Homewood, IL, on Monday,March 6 at the age of 95. He was born in Walterboro, SC and was the youngest of four children. He attended The Citadel in Charleston SC where he began his career with the Army. He and Elizabeth Quigley were married at The Citadel and had five children: Vera, Betsy, Dan (Joyce) Margaret (John) and Trish (Jay). He served his country proudly in World War II, where he earned several medals, including the Purple Heart, Silver Star and the Bronze Medal. He continued to serve in the Army reserves, where he achieved the rank of Colonel. Following the war, Al worked as a civil engineer for the Federal Highway Administration. He is survived by 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
