Philip Lynn Funkhouser, of Mansfield, Texas, a beloved husband, father, pawpaw, father-in-law and friend to many passed away peacefully at the age of 72 next to his soul mate Donna Funkhouser in their long-time home in Mansfield, Tx where they have lived a happy and full life together. He brought joy and a smile to those who knew him and showed his love for the Lord in the ways that he lived his life and loved his family. Phil was an only child born in Little Rock, Arkansas on September 14, 1952 to two loving parents Lucille and Virgil Funkhouser. Phil married his high school sweetheart Donna in 1974 and spent many happy years making a lifetime of unforgettable memories together. They had one child together, Hallie Elizabeth Sheffield who was his world.
Phil is preceded in death by his mother Lucille Sweeden, father Virgil Funkhouser, Mother-in-law Juanita Mallet and Father-in-Law Ramon Mallett and Survived in death by his wife Donna Funkhouser, Daughter Hallie Sheffield, Son in Law Jason Sheffield and grandchildren Ileigh Kelly, Lincoln Kelly, Jackson Sheffield and Braydon Sheffield.
Phil loved Jesus and his family more than anything and led a life that showed that. He graduated from Hall High School and very proudly continued his education at The Citadel in South Carolina where he received his associates of Business. He furthered his education by receiving his MBA from SMU in Dallas, TX. He had a very successful career as a business owner of PHD specialties where he was lucky enough to retire in December of 2023. He loved to fly fish and travel and if he wasn’t doing one of those two things he was supporting his grandchildren and kids in any way possible. Also, if you know Phil you know he was a die-hard Cowboys fan. The unexpected passing of Phil has left a tremendous void in his family and dear friends. Those that knew him were blessed to know his cheerfulness, hard work, and generosity. He was truly a one-of-a-kind man.
