David W. Fagan, Jr. of Shippenville, Pa.,formerly of Miola, passed away October 26, 2024. Kathi D. Fagan was his loving companion/wife of 33 years. Dave was the enormously loved dad to Sean & Kelsey, plus abundantly loved dad-in-law to Katy (Fagan) & Jeremy (Kelly). He was Pap-Pap/Papa to Jennifer (Kevin) Jollie & David (Jennifer) Fagan, his older grandkids: Nate, Madalynn, & Sierra Fagan, Jack, Luke, & Mark Jollie. He was the treasured “Pops” to his newest grandsons: Elliott & Wayland Fagan. Dave was the brother of Pat Miller (Jim) of TN, brother-in-law of Bruce & Kathy Downing, and uncle to Brock & Brenna Downing of Imperial, PA.
Honoring Dave’s wishes to be remembered as he was in life, there will be no visitation or service. As a tribute to Dave, the family suggests a “Pay It Forward”/Random Act of kindness honor (surprise someone with an unexpected happy gesture), a donation to Clarion Forest VNA, or donate to and/or adopt from your local animal shelter.
Dave graduated from The Citadel in 1964 with a BS in Civil Engineering and later earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. As he continued his engineering career it eventually brought him from Pittsburgh to Clarion in 1991. At Clarion University, Dave was the Project Manager/Engineer in Facilities Management. Upon retirement in 2015, he continued to enjoy the rural life in the Clarion area. He had many pets during his life, all of which brought him very special memories and held places of honor in his heart. We’re positive those loving critters were ecstatic to greet Dave at the Rainbow Bridge.
During his grass mowing days, he always “saved” yellow buttercups from being mowed over! Dave realized the importance of dropping everything for family time. He really enjoyed taking photos, general handyman work, woodworking, antique steamer trunk refinishing, trains, good food, extra dark coffee, exploring his family history, beach vacations & shell collecting in Buck Island/OBX, road trips, the outdoors, sunrises, clever flashlights, Jeeps, unique kites, rocks & minerals, but mostly just being with his family and furry friends. He lived his 82 years with no regrets a life well lived he said.
An extra special heartfelt thanks to Clarion Forest VNA, plus our friends and new neighbors who showered us with love on this journey. Your kindness did indeed touch our hearts.
Dave will be sorely missed, forever loved, and we’ll keep watching the skies for shooting stars to treasure in his honor. We will certainly miss our man of patience, jack-of-all-trades, and let-me-try-to-fix-it mentor. Thank you for touching our lives and the very fiber of our beings so deeply with love and laughter.
