“Bill” was a true Renaissance man; he lived life on his terms not according to others’ expectations. He was gifted with a high level of intelligence and had great knowledge on all topics. He was also gifted in athletic ability in most sports, but excelled in baseball (MVP), basketball (starter) handball and golf (scratch). His professional life followed many paths according to what he felt was important.
He was born, raised and lived in the Detroit area his entire life and loved Michigan. His high school years were spent at Royal Oak Kimball and he graduated from the Citadel Military College. The Corps. was never the same. Captain Eskew spent time at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico and then completed three tours in Vietnam as an EOD expert where he was awarded many honors. Unfortunately, though proud of his service, he was negatively affected by the war.
Whatever Bill had he shared with others while living an ascetic life style. He contributed money, time and knowledge to girl’s fast pitch softball for at least forty years, and was instrumental in helping “his” girls attain their best and in making sure they went on to some of the finest universities on scholarship.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, William (Bill) and Daisy Eskew. He is survived by his sister, Shirlee (Edward) Dashow, his niece and godchild, Rebecca (Stephen) Baldwin, his nephews Jason (Christy) Dashow and Jamison Dashow, and his grandnephew, Walker Baldwin and grandniece, Isadora Dashow. He will also be greatly missed by many friends, some who knew him most of his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Total Sports in Wixom, MI on April 13th from five to eight p.m. Private family internment will follow. The family wishes to thank Providence Hospital of Novi, Reverence Hospice and Phillips Funeral Home for their compassionate care.
Please make contributions in Bill’s name to Finesse Fast Pitch Club of Wixom, MI, or to Wounded Warrior’s of America. Online condolences can be shared at www.tuellmckee.com
