James L. Mayo, 78, of Orlando, FL, passed away July 1, 2016. A Florida native and graduate of the Citadel, Jim served in the United States Air Force for 20 years promoting to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Retiring to Orlando, Jim worked at Martin Marietta and McDonald Douglas. Jim loved to play golf, racquetball, entertain and travel the world. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Pearl, sister Eleanor Jesmer and his loving wife, Julie Meyer Mayo. He is survived by his children Kate Kalvitz (Justin) of Cleveland, OH, Susan Eriksen (Darin) of San Francisco, CA and Chief Petty Officer James Steven Mayo USCG (Christy) of Cape Cod, MA and his five grandchildren Jacki, Adam and Allison Kalvitz and Sylvia and James Tyler (JT) Mayo. Viewing will be held at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, Thursday, July 7 from 6-8 pm, with funeral service to be held Friday, 11 am at Woodbury Presbyterian Church.
