It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William “Bill” Harig of Cumberland, RI, a cherished husband, father, and esteemed community member, who left us peacefully on March 3, 2024, at the age of 82.
Born on April 14, 1941, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Bill was a proud graduate of St. Xavier High School, class of 1959, and went on to distinguish himself at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, where he graduated in the class of 1963. His commitment to service and excellence continued throughout his life, notably marked by his honorable tenure as a Commander in the United States Navy. Following his military service, Bill embarked on a successful career in the private sector, making significant contributions as an executive at Travelers Insurance Company, before founding The Boston Atlantic Company, a financial services firm.
Bill was a beloved husband to Kathleen Dillon Harig and a devoted father to his children, William A. Harig, Jennifer P. Harig, Christopher J. Harig and his wife Carol, Kelly Anne Harig, and Lauren H. Cashman and her husband Brent. He also leaves his grandchildren, Christopher, Mary Jane, Zoe, Maddalyn, Brenna, and Nolan. His leadership, wisdom, and warmth were the cornerstones of our family, and his guidance will be deeply missed.
The family kindly invites friends and loved ones to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday March 9, 2024 at 12:00 PM, Saint Joan of Arc Church 3357 Mendon Road in Cumberland, RI. Visiting hours will be held Saturday at 10:00-11:30 AM in the O’Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland, prior to the Mass. Burial will take place in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Bill’s life was a testament to the values he held dear: duty, integrity, and love for his family. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate his remarkable journey and the indelible mark he has left on our hearts. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide us.
