Col. Claude G. Jackson, Jr., of West Columbia, passed away on October 15, 2023. He was born Oct. 29, 1941 in Camden, South Carolina, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Claude G. Jackson. He was a graduate of The Citadel.
Col. Jackson was retired from The United States Air Force Reserves in 1993. Col. Jackson flew C141s and his was the first plane to fly into Kuwait. During the Persian Gulf he was shot at while landing there. He flew over 300 flights in and out of Vietnam during that war.
Col. Jackson retired as a Captain from Continental Airlines in 2001. He was an active member of the Lexington County Master Gardeners. He had a great love for flowers. He was a wonderful man, Husband and friend to everyone. He was a great pilot and enjoyed flying for the Air Force and Continental Airlines.
He was survived by his wife, Joy Bell Faircloth Jackson; son, Daniel Jackson; two daughters, Patty Edwards and Lindsey Jackson; two step-children, Patricia A. Reis and David T. Reis; and four grandchildren. His brother, Joe Jackson predeceased him.
A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
