Hal David “Dan” Rush, 89, passed away September 10, 2023, in Jacksonville, Florida.
Born in St. Augustine, Florida, Dan was a 1955 graduate of the Citadel. He leveraged his degree in Civil Engineering to launch a successful career in the steel and construction industries, after having served in the United States Air Force. Following his retirement, Dan focused much of his life in the work of his church, South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church. His tireless commitment to the church and those with whom he served will have a lasting impact on the many ministries in which he was involved.
Dan is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nancy Champion Rush, Jacksonville, Florida, his sister, Gayla Rush McGovern, his sons David Brian Rush, Winter Garden, Florida and Bradley Burnett (Carrie) Rush, Lutz, Florida, and his daughter Laylon Rush (Steve) Webb, Jacksonville, Florida. He is survived by grandchildren, Joshua Byley Rush, Brian Michael (Emily) Rush, Andrew Daniel (Meghan) Rush, Collin Rush Webb, Kaley Elizabeth Webb, Julia Mary Rush and Connor David Rush, as well as four great grandchildren. Nephews and nieces, Robert (Leland Baldwin) Barnes, Laurie Barnes (Paul) Grabiak, Franklin Pettit, Laura Quine (Tom) Heinle, Linda Quine (Chase) Barry.
A celebration of Dan’s life will be held 1:00 pm Friday September 15, 2023 at South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church, 2137 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida 32207, with graveside services following at Oaklawn Cemetery.
