Robert “Bob” Jackson Walker, 84, husband of Karen F. Walker, of Yonges Island, SC, entered into eternal rest Friday, September 08, 2023, surrounded by his family. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Walker are invited to attend his Funeral Service 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1853 Maybank Highway, James Island. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends between 5:00 & 7:00 PM Monday at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. Bob was born August 21, 1939 in Charleston, son of the late Lewis Arthur Walker and Sara Mothershed Walker. When he was in the sixth grade, his family moved to Ravenel where he graduated from St. Paul’s High School. He was a proud Citadel graduate and his class ring was always on his hand. In February of 1965, he married Glenda Skipper and they lived on James Island until her sudden death in 1986. In 1987, he married Grace Inabinett. They were married for 31 years until her death in 2018. Bob is survived by his wife, Karen Fultz Walker, his daughter, Robin “Missy” Walker Babinchak (Jim) of Fort Mill, step-daughters, Shellie David Koepcke (Rich) of Mt. Pleasant and Theresa David Dennis (Ronnie) of Columbia ; grandchildren, Ashley Allynn Babinchak, William Dennis, Thomas Dennis, Andrew Dennis, Grace Koepcke and Caroline Koepcke; a sister, Gaye Walker Chinnis, 2 brothers, William B. “Billy” Walker (Teekie) and John L. Walker (Jean); and many beloved nieces and nephews. Bob and Glenda purchased a beach house at Edisto in 1983 and for 30+ years he loved being part of the community and entertaining family and friends. Bob decided to trade the beach life for the river. He loved to fish, but most of all, he loved sitting out on his back porch with his binoculars always by his side watching the bluebirds nest in the houses he made for them. Bob was a proud American and had a deep respect for all who served this country. He retired as Planning Officer from SUPSHIP Charleston SC, Department of the Navy in 1994. Bob was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church, the James Island Yacht Club, the Elks Club, American Legion James Island post and Jacksonboro Lodge of the Freemasons.
