Dorothy Ruth McMillin, of Seneca, was born on February 26, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Joseph and Myra Latourette. Dorothy was a retired teacher who taught English and reading in Ladson, St. George and Easley, SC. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Charleston Southern University, a Master of Education and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the Citadel. She is a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at the Citadel, which recognizes academic excellence.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John G. McMillin and her second husband, Ray Dixon, as well as her sister, Edith Bittner, and brothers Morris, Frank, John, Eugene and Ken.
She is survived by brothers Charles Latourette, Roy Latourette and Bob Latourette. She is also survived by sons Ron McMillin and his wife Cindy, son, David McMillin and a daughter, Patty Reed and her husband Ed. Also surviving are grandchildren Katie and David McMillin, John and Matthew McMillin, Mark Reed, and seven great grandchildren.
The visitation will be held Thursday, August 24, 2023, starting at 12:00 – 12:20 PM at Robinson Funeral Home, 305 W. Main St, Easley, SC 29640. The funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM following the visitation at Robinson Funeral Home – Downtown.
