Frank Nicholas Doscher passed away peacefully on December 15, 2022. He was 90 and a resident of Leesburg, FL.
Frank was born September 10, 1932 in Charleston, SC. He served three years in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After graduating from Citadel as an Electrical Engineer, his career took him to Falls Church VA. Next to St Louis, where he started a career in the transit industry. He designed station electric and car electronics. Next to California, building the system from Long Beach to LA. Next to Atlanta, where he started the building of MARTA. Back to California, where he worked as a consultant on the whole system. 40 years in transit. He truly loved his vocation and life.
Frank enjoyed his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved his dart friends and bocce friends. Frank was an avid sailor. He was active in the Plantation Republican Club and the REC of Lake County. He loved the trips he and Sharon took. Japan to inspect transit cars. Germany for Oktoberfest and later Passion Play in Oberammergau. Camping all around the United States. Frank loved card games with friends and family. He volunteered at Leesburg Hospital many years with The Mended Heart Organization.
Frank is survived by Sharon Spence Doscher, his wife of 66 years, 6 children, Frank (Marie) Doscher, Jr, Kathryn Doscher, Suzanne (Jill) Doscher, Dianne (Ed) Doscher, Martin Doscher, Sarah (Kenny) Hartwig, 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Frank is also survived by many cousins and other immediate family, Robin (Tim), Craig, and Missy (Harley).
A military service will be held in early 2023.
