Balfour Warranty
The following services are provided without charge for the original owner of the Balfour Citadel Ring. A $30 shipping and handling fee does apply.
- Resize your ring.
- Re-engrave your ring.
- Remake your ring if year changes.
- Clean, polish, and re-antique your ring.
*Please note: This warranty is void if work is performed on your ring by someone other than Balfour.
Once your ring is received by The Citadel Ring Office, the resize/remake process can take approximately 10 weeks and will ship directly back to you. We do not receive notification once your order ships. Balfour ships USPS and Jostens ships UPS 2nd Day and both require a signature.
Ring Loss Protection Plan
- Protects your ring against loss or theft within 4 years* of purchase.
- Included with your ring purchase.
- Replacement fees do apply.
If your ring is lost or stolen, Balfour will replace the jewelry. This plan is in effect for four years from the date of purchase on all original rings and is limited to a single replacement if your original jewelry during the four year period. Call The Citadel Ring Office for details to replace your lost or stolen ring.
With the purchase of the Extended Ring Loss Protection Plan, if your ring is lost or stolen, Balfour will replace it for up to ten years from the date of Ring Presentation for those who participated and the date of shipping from Balfour for all other orders (deductible applies). This plan must be purchased at the time of the original ring purchase. This plan is limited to a single replacement of your original Citadel ring during the ten-year period. Repairing defects in workmanship and resizing your ring is performed without charge except for shipping costs.
*All cadet, MECEP, STA-21, and Veteran students who participated in the Class Ring Presentation will be insured against loss or theft from 4 years of the date of their Ring Presentation. All alumni and other student rings will be insured against loss or theft for 4 years from the date of shipping from Balfour. This also applies for the Extended Ring Loss Protection Plan.
Resizing
Rings can only be resized up to 1.5 size larger or smaller and only then if they have not been resized before. This is subject to the manufacturers inspection of the ring – you will be contacted if it is not possible for resize and asked what you would like to be done before any work can proceed. All other rings will have to be remade. Please complete this form and return it with the ring and payment. Both Balfour and Jostens ring resizes are $30.
Remaking
If your ring needs to be increased or decreased by more than 1.5 size, it will have to be remade. Please complete this form and return it with the ring and payment. Remaking a ring means that your ring will be taken in-trade for a brand new ring. You will not receive your old ring back. The gold from your current ring will not be used to make the new ring. If you have a Balfour ring your remake will still cost $30. If you have a Jostens ring your remake will cost $100.
Re-engraving
Re-engraving can be done with either resizing or remaking at no charge.
Finding the Correct Ring Size
If you are unable to come to the CAA office to be sized for your ring, a jeweler near you can assist you.
- FOR BALFOUR RINGS (including Art Carved, JR/John Roberts and Milestone Traditions rings): Your jeweler should use a ROUND SIZER.
- FOR JOSTENS RINGS: Your jeweler should use an OVAL SIZER. If you cannot find an oval sizer, simply subtract a 1/2 size to your round measurement.
- FOR HERFF JONES RINGS: (HJ) Rings must be sent directly to the original manufacturer for resizing and repairs. For warranty information call: 1-800-837-4235 to speak with Robert Vaz, Sr. Customer Service Representative, Military & Commercial. *Please note that any ring engraved with an “HJ 10K” cannot be resized or remade with the CAA and must be sent by the customer directly to the manufacturer.
Shipping Instructions
Please send your class ring, resize/remake order form, and payment in an insured package (padded envelope or small box) through USPS, UPS or FedEx. The Ring Office will contact you when your package has been shipped off to manufacturing. Please do not send your ring in a box you would like back (ie — the original box you received your ring in). These boxes will NOT be sent back with your finished ring. The manufacturer will not be responsible for returning anything but your remade or resized class ring. The CAA makes shipments to manufacturing every Wednesday.
