Martha Jean Bolus, 87, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Dawson Earl Bolus died Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2015 in the First Baptist Church of Charleston, 48 Meeting Street, at 2:00 p.m. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Jean was born March 19, 1928 in Wadley, Georgia, daughter of the late Otis Hayslip and the late Francis Flake Hayslip. She attended Converse College and Georgia State College, both on scholarship, and received her Masters Degree in Counseling from The Citadel. Jean retired from James Island High School where she taught for many years. She was an avid sportswoman, loving hiking, swimming, and tennis. Jean was a member of First Baptist Church of Charleston. She is survived by her children, Michael Tommy Bolus (Donna), Robert Byron Bolus (Joy), Dawson Keith Bolus (Kathy), and Jeannie Lynn Kaasa (Gary), all of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Ashton, Dawson, Veronica, Cameron, Justin, Gregory, Christopher, Michael, Peter, and Jesse; and one great-granddaughter, Lucy.
