Virginia “Jennie” Lilly Gwinn, 62 , of Rainelle, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Alleghany Regional Hospital , Low Moor, VA., following a long illness. Born on May 29, 1953 at Bluefield, she was the daughter of the late Howard (honored Army Veteran WWII) and Theodora Martin Lilly of Grandview, W.Va. Jennie was a mother and wife, a graduate of Concord College with a Bachelor of Arts in teaching and later went on to earn her MAE in Social Sciences at the Citadel Military College University in Charleston, S.C. As a devoted teacher, her career expanded to two states including Oak Hill High School, Meadow Bridge High School in Fayette County and Berkley County, S.C., where she taught at the STAR Academy. She loved to teach and enjoyed helping students to achieve their dreams whether it was to attend college or to serve their country in the Armed Forces for which she was an avid supporter. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Dennis Gwinn of Rainelle; two daughters, Kristy Franco, Kara Franco Bragg and husband SMSgt Jeffery Bragg stationed at Hickam AFB, Honolulu, Hawaii; two step daughters, Brandy Gwinn of Summersville, Ashley Burns and husband Roger of Covington, Va.; one son, Air Force Veteran Darric Franco of Rainelle; seven grandchildren, Tori and Kyleigh of Honolulu, Hawaii, Savannah, Sarah, Micheal and Abigail Burns of Covington, Jocelyn Boggs of Summersville; one brother, David Lilly and wife Kathryn of White Sulphur Springs; one niece, Teresa Lilly Hylton and husband Jimmy of Ronceverte; two great nieces, Kimber Lilly and Kendall Lilly, both of White Sulphur Springs; one great great niece, Rylea Hylton of Ronceverte; one nephew, John Lilly and wife Elizabeth of White Sulphur Springs; one great nephew, Dalton Hylton and wife Whitney of Ronceverte; last but not least, her beloved rat terrier Jack. Services will be held at the Wallace Memorial Mausoleum, Clintonville, W.Va., at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2015 with Rev. Bill Gilliland Friends may visit with the family at the mausoleum from 12:30 until time of service.
