Kenneth C. Dufford passed away peacefully on March 2, 2015 in Jacksonville, FL. He was born April 14, 1928 in Lone Star, SC to Cronk and Vermelle Dufford. After graduating from The Citadel in 1949, Kenneth served in the United States Air Force. He married Emogene Rickenbaker on March 3, 1951. Following his military service, Kenneth spent the duration of his career in the railroad industry. He began in the Engineering Department of the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad, followed by numerous positions on the Georgia Roads, L&N Railroad and Seaboard Systems, all predecessors of CSX. He retired from CSX Transportation as Executive Vice President of Operations in 1989. During and after retiring, Kenneth served on several Boards of Directors. Kenneth was very active in church and several charities and organizations were blessed by his guidance and philanthropy. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, hunting, playing bridge and walking his Toy Manchester, Lucy. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Emogene Dufford; daughter, Charlotte Drake (John); son, William Dufford; and four beloved grandchildren, Hunter and Chandler Drake, and Stephanie and Joshua Dufford. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 6th at 11:00 AM at South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church, 2137 Hendricks Avenue, with Reverend Stephen C. Kolderup officiating.
