William Snowden Schofield, 89, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Frances Porter Schofield entered into eternal rest Sunday, February 22, 2015. His Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 in John Wesley United Methodist Church, 626 Savannah Highway at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends Saturday in the Church Parlor from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. William was born January 2, 1926 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, son of the late Arthur Charles Schofield and Margaret Snowden Schofield. William served during WWII as a Sergeant in the Army Air Corps and was a graduate of the Citadel, Class of 1949. He retired as an Accountant Executive with the Post & Courier Newspaper. He was a long-standing member of John Wesley United Methodist Church, where he served on various committees, including serving as youth counselor, teacher in the Wesley Fellowship Class for more than 50 years and President of the Men’s Club. He was also a member of the Gideons International. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Frances Schofield of Charleston, SC; two daughters, Cheryl Hart of Ocala, FL, Janette Dandridge (Rick) of Charleston, SC; brother, James Schofield (Maria) of Pittsboro, NC; four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren, Wesley Hart (Kelley), Jennifer Shuler, Kevin Hart, Daniel Shuler, Ashley Grace (Wayne), Reagen Desilets (Roger), and Jason Dandridge (Megan); one great-grandchild, Madison Hart and eight step-great-grandchildren.
