Russell Paul Clary, 50, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on June 29, 2014. Russell was the beloved son of Moodye and Virle Clary. He was born on January 22, 1964, in Dallas, Texas, and his family moved to Charlotte shortly thereafter. Upon his 1982 graduation from South Mecklenburg High School, Russell was a decorated athlete and an accomplished student. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business from The Citadel where he was a proud member of the Summerall Guards and Cadet Chorale and dedicated friend to his fellow cadets. After beginning his career in Information Technology, Russell earned his master’s in computer science from UNCC. Russell is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 24 years, Katie Cunningham Clary, and his daughters Kathryn and Margot Clary, and brother Craig Clary, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family extends its deep gratitude to special friends Frances Moore, Neil Cottrell and Shannon Nichols. The family will receive friends at their home on July 1st from 6-8pm. A service celebrating Russell’s life will be held at Sharon Baptist Church, 6411 Sharon Road, Charlotte, NC 28210, on Wednesday, July 2nd at 11:00 am.
