WESTFALL, Bill Bill Westfall (Col. USAF, Ret.), 87, of Summerville, husband of Madeleine J. Westfall, died August 10, 2006. Funeral service will be held at Dorchester Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, Summerville on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at 11 o’clock with full military honors. Private burial will be held at Beaufort National Cemetery. Friends may call at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, Summerville from 6 until 8 o’clock Monday evening. Memorials may be made to: Heartland Hospice Service, Inc., 3 South Park Circle, Suite 172, Charleston, SC 29407. Col. Westfall was born June 26, 1919 in Springfield, Oregon, son of the late Leland Davis Westfall and Emma Mary Butler Westfall. He received degrees from the University of Southern Oregon, University of California at Berkeley, Command and Staff Air War College, George Washington University and the Citadel. Westfall joined the United States Army Air Corps in 1941 and served as an Air Force Pilot until his retirement. In recognition of his Word War II service transporting war supplies from India to China over the Hump , he received the Distinguished Flying Cross. For this same service he received the Chinese Air Medal in 2001 in Beijing from the Chinese Government. In the late 1960’s in Athens, Greece, he served as a US Military Aid Officer to the Greek armed services. After retirement in the Charleston Area, he continued his lifelong enjoyment of golf. He was a member of Miler Country Club, Coastal Seniors Golf Association and Dorchester Presbyterian Church. Col. Westfall is survived by his wife of 60 years; Madeleine 3 children: Margee Stuecklin-Westfall and her husband Andreas of Liestal, Switzerland, Karen Shaw of Greeley, Colorado, Bill Westfall and his wife Becky of Summerville; 9 grandchildren: David Shaw and his wife Catherine, Stephan Stuecklin, Stephanie Shaw, Sarah Westfall Brown and her husband David, Cornelia Stuecklin, Jennifer Shaw Smith and her husband, Adam, Phillip Stuecklin, Ashley Shaw, Paul Westfall ; 1 great grandson, Garrett Brown; 1 sister: Helen Hallner; 2 nieces: Susan and Andrea ARRANGEMENTS BY JAMES A.
