Smith, George Wilson George Wilson Smith, 71, of St. James City, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2007 at Hope Hospice of Cape Coral. George was born in Punta Gorda, FL to George and Helen Smith. He was raised in Bartow and Orlando. George was a 1957 graduate of The Citadel, Military College of South Carolina and served in the US Army. He retired after 31years as a Pharmaceutical Representative for Parke-Davis. He lived in North Fort Myers for 20 years and Pine Island for the past 22 years. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Elks, American Legion and Moose Clubs, Pine Island; Cape Coral Sailing Club; and Life Member of Araba Shrine Temple Directors Staff. George loved to fish and travel the world. One of his favorite places was Costa Rica where, in 1979, he organized and helped conduct a trip for the North Fort Myers High School Band. He will also be remembered by the many other people who went with him on fishing and exploring trips there. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, The Rev. Nancy M. Smith; son George Wilson Jr. and wife Emily of Asheville, NC; son Hugo and wife Kelly and granddaughter Dinara of North Fort Myers, FL and 96 year old mother, Helen of Cape Coral, FL. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 28 at Epiphany Episcopal Church, Del Prado Blvd., Cape Coral. Entombment of ashes will take place in the Smith Family plot in Bartow, FL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial contributions to Epiphany or St. John’s Episcopal Church or Hope Hospice of Cape Coral. George had many friends from many walks of life and will be greatly missed.
