MOODY, John SALTERS – John Fleetwood Moody, 71, died Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at his residence. Mr. Moody was born on March 10, 1933 in Lake City, a son of the late Walter Scott and Leila Covington Moody. He was a graduate of The Citadel with a masters degree from the University of South Carolina, and Francis Marion University. Mr. Moody was a retired Lt. Colonel in the US Army where he was a helicopter and airplane pilot. He served in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. He was awarded two Bronze Stars in Vietnam and 15 Air Medals. Mr. Moody was the author of The Black Bishop. He was a member of Union Presbyterian Church and Friends of the Library. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Dingle Moody of Salters; one grandson, Brendan Kirby of Salters; three brothers, Lide Moody of Lake City, Bill Moody of Dillon, and Lee Ray Moody of Walterboro; one sister, Laura Moody of Charleston; two daughters, Maxine Poston of Hendersonville, NC and Laura Jean Reed of Greenville, SC; and one step-daughter, Susan M. Kirby of Savannah, GA. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Union Presbyterian Church. There family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at Williamsburg Funeral Home.
