MILER, JR., Daniel Daniel Sherwood Miler, Jr.,77, of Summerville, SC, husband of Edith Jeanne Fuller Miler, died Thursday, November 30, 2006. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Summerville, SC, Saturday afternoon December 2, 2006 at two o’clock. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Parks Funeral Home this Friday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Summerville Meals on Wheels, P. O. Box 592, Summerville, SC 29484 or to St. Paul’s Youth Ministry Fund, 316 W. Carolina Ave., Summerville, SC 29483 or to the charity of one’s choice. Mr. Miler was born September 20, 1929 in Summerville, South Carolina, a son of Daniel Sherwood Miler and Susan Hyrne Hutchinson Miler. He graduated from Summerville High School in 1946 where he was an honor student and excellent athlete in many sports. He graduated from the Citadel with Distinguished Military Honors in 1950. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany. After leaving the regular Army in 1955, he joined the US Army Reserve and retired twenty years later with the rank of full Colonel. After selling a laundry business, Mr. Miler went into the Real Estate Business. Mr. Miler was inducted into the Dorchester District II (Summerville High School) Athletic Hall of Fame. He was also on the Board of Directors of the Dorchester Free School Board, a member of the Rotary Club, a past member of the Jaycees, a District Director of the Boy Scouts, coached kid’s basketball, and taught Sunday School where he was an active member and usher of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Survivors include his wife, Edith Jeanne Miler of Summerville, SC; two daughters, Jan Miler Marchand and husband, Lt. Cmdr. Richard Marchand of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Lucia Miler Campbell and husband, Scott Campbell of Summerville, SC; two sons, Daniel Sherwood Miler, III and wife, Julie Miler, and Richard L. Miler and wife, Debbie Miler, all of Summerville; one brother, Edward H. Miler of Summerville, and thirteen grandchildren.
