John Jack Alexander McCormic, 69, of Bamberg, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, in Charleston. A memorial service in his honor will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Bamberg. A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. (CST) Saturday, Nov. 3, at Corydon United Methodist Church, Corydon, Ky. Mr. McCormic was born Thursday, June 22, 1933, in Sumter, a son of the late Leslie F. and Pansy Craft McCormic. He graduated from The Citadel, Class of 1955, and served in the U.S. Army. He was a self-employed cabinet maker and home renovator. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, their Men’s Club, the Apollo Music Club, and the Paw Paw Country Club, a former president of the Gaffney Jaycees. He was elected to the Henderson County Board of Education and the Corydon City Council in Corydon, Ky. and a Kentucky Colonel. He was an avid gardener, loved sports and golf, but nothing was more important than his loving family. He was married to Margaret Hilda Thompson McCormic. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Survivors include his devoted wife of 47 years; seven children, Leslie Hoskins and her husband Steve, John McCormic Jr. and his wife, Pamela, Thad McCormic and his wife, Melinda, Brian McCormic, Ashley Wilkerson and her husband, Roderick, Matthew McCormic and his wife, Amy, all of Kentucky, and Dwight McCormic of Athens, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, William McCormic and his wife, Lillis of Clemson.
