Jay Reeves Moore, 63, of Hopewell Township, a local attorney for many years, died early Friday morning, Dec. 15, 2006, at South Jersey Healthcare in Elmer. The son of Jonathan R. Moore, DO, a Bridgeton physician for many years, currently of Sewell and the late Isabel (Spaulding) Moore, he was born April 2, 1943, in Bridgeton. Jay attended Mercersburg Academy and graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1962. He matriculated at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., and received his law degree from Rutgers Law School in Camden before being admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1969. He practiced law in Bridgeton for several years and most recently was a partner in the law firm of Mann, Moore and Cavagnaro in Vineland. Early in his career, he was a municipal court judge in various townships in Cumberland County. He was an avid skier in his younger years and also was a baseball umpire at West Cumberland Little League. Mr. Moore had attended First Presbyterian Church in Bridgeton and enjoyed golfing. He was a longtime history buff and enjoyed art. In addition, he was devoted to his family and they appreciated him as being one of only a few men who truly enjoyed shopping. In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Trudi (Hoyer) Moore; two daughters, Jennifer M. Keating and her husband Sean of Livingston and Jessica M. Lindsey and her husband Oliver of Amherst, Mass.; three grandchildren, Blake Martin Keating, Elliot Abrams Lindsey and Sophie Isabel Lindsey. Besides his mother, he was predeceased by a sister, Carol Moore Allen. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton with the Rev. Richard E. Sindall, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Bridgeton officiating. The interment will take place in the family lot at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton. Friends will be received from 9:30 until 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
