HARRINGTON, Edward Edward B. Harrington of Charleston, SC entered into eternal rest on the evening of January 25, 2006 following a multi-year fight with cancer. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Stephanie Farris Harrington, originally of Georgetown, SC. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services Saturday, January 28, 2006 at James Island Presbyterian Church. There will be an opportunity for viewing at noon; the memorial service will begin at one o’clock to be immediately followed by interment in the Churchyard. A 1949 graduate of The Citadel, he served as an officer and pilot in the U.S. Air Force and held joint command responsibility for two air squadrons during his period of service in North Africa. He served as an aid to Gen. Mark Clark and then returned to The Citadel for several years as an Assistant Professor of Air Science. Mr. Harrington retired from the U.S. Air Force at the rank of Lt. Colonel after completing 39 years of service in both Active and Reserve units. His civilian career in public administration included positions as Director of Economic Development for Anderson County, SC and Executive Director of the Waccamaw Regional Planning and Development Council. Mr. Harrington was an active member of James Island Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and participated in a variety of church activities He is survived by one son: Edward B. Harrington, II and his wife Angela of Beech Mountain, NC; one daughter: Elizabeth H. Peck and her husband Stephen of James Island, SC; three grandchildren: Matthew David Harrington, Rachel Anne Harrington and Aubrey Stephen Peck; two sisters: Louise H. Smith of Bennettsville, SC and Ellen H. Weisiger of Charlotte, NC; one brother: E. Hay Harrington, Jr., of Kingstree, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to James Island Presbyterian Church, 1632 Fort Johnson Road, James Island, SC 29412 or Williamsburg Presbyterian Church 411 N.
