Col. Edward Earl McBride, Jr., U S Army, Retired died Friday May 14, 2004. Graveside services will be held at Floral Hills Memory Gardens at 2:00 PM Sunday May 16, 2004 with Rev. Tom Van Laningham officiating. A native of Memphis, Tenn., Col. McBride was a decorated veteran of WW II. Col McBride was raised in Somerset, KY, and began his career after graduation from The Citadel. While deployed with the 19th Infantry Division he was awarded the Bronze Star and two Silver Stars for Valor. He and his unit were also awarded the Presidential Unit Citation. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margueritte Asbell McBride. He loved to collect funny sayings and share with his friends for a laugh. He is survived by his son, Edward Earl McBride, III, and his wife, Linda of Durham, NC; daughter Mary McBride Daniel of Dunwoody, GA; grandchildren, Vicki Radcliffe, and her husband, Don, Margueritte Daniel, Laing Daniel and his wife, Crystal Holiday, Jessie McBride and Jaimie McBride. Also surviving are twin great-granddaughters Shanea and Shanna Daniel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Crusaders Sunday School Class, First Christian Church of Atlanta, 4532 LaVista Road, Tucker, GA 30084. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home.
