BURNEY, SR., Andrew STILSON COMMUNITY – Mr. Andrew Griner Burney, Sr., died Saturday from injuries received in an automobile accident. The native of Orangeburg, SC, lived in Charleston, SC for 25 years before moving to the Stilson Community 23 years ago. He was a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army Air Corp having served in World War II. Burney was a graduate of the Citadel with a Masters Degree in Business Administration. He retired from Lockheed Martin Corporation as an administrator after many years of service. Mr. Burney was the manager of Griner Farms for over 20 years. He was a member of the Old Fellowship Baptist Church in Stilson. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew G. Burney, Jr., and Lyne of Stilson and David W. Burney, Sr., and Carolina of Stilson; five grandchildren, Tiffannie Clifford of Charleston, SC, Tamara Stringer of Sylvania, Tara Cliett of Charleston, SC, Stephanie Jones of Lexington, KY and David W. Burney, Jr., of Stilson; four great-grandchildren, Lauren Clifford, Michaeala Stringer, Anna Grace Clifford and William Andrew Cliett and a sister, Eugenia Christensen of Santa Rosa, CA. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m., at the Old Fellowship Baptist Church with Dr. Reland Morgan officiating assisted by Dr. John Parker. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial with full military honors will be in the church cemetery.
