BURLINGTON Mr. Benjamin F. Ben Spears, Sr., 76, of 2608 Amherst Ct., died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002 at his residence, following a lengthy illness and Hospice care. The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Burlington, conducted by Dr. Craig McMahan, Pastor. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park. He was born in Camden, S.C., the son of the late John A. Spears and Nannie Rabon Spears. He was a retired Electrical Engineer with AT&T. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burlington, a Life Deacon, member of the Media Library Staff; Former Scoutmaster of Troop 2, Former Sunday School Teacher, active in the Bereavement Committee and various committees of the church. He was a graduate of the Citadel and a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II and the Korean Conflict. Survivors include wife, Mrs. Marjorie Jones Spears of the home; daughters, Mrs. Sandra Spears Bullard and husband, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Anthony A. Bullard, Sr. of Tampa, Fla. and Mrs. Beth Spears Gundersen and husband, Edward Scott Gunderson of Greensboro; sons, Rev. Benjamin F. Benjie Spears, Jr. and wife, Barbara Burks Spears of Ft. Worth, Texas, Mr. J. Walter Spears and wife, Sharon Harper Spears of Burlington, Mr. Robert Andrew Drew Spears of Winston-Salem; one brother, Mr. Albert P. Spears of Huntsville, Ala. The family will be at Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and other times at the residence. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Media Library, 400 S.
