BAILEY, Ralph GREENVILLE, S.C. – Ralph Bailey, 76, died Monday, December 22, 2003, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Atlanta, Ga., on January 11, 1927, he was the only child of Emily Gertrude Hanckel and Ralph Bailey of Charleston. Mr. Bailey served in the U.S. Navy and graduated from the Citadel in 1948 with a degree in Civil Engineering, and from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1950. He served as Editor-In-Chief to the South Carolina Law Quarterly, 1950. He was admitted to the South Carolina Law Quarterly, 1950. He was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1950, in U.S. District Court, District of South Carolina in 1951, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, 4th Circuit, in 1960. He was the first patent attorney in the state of South Carolina. He practiced Intellectual Property Law until his death. He was a long-time member of Christ Episcopal Church. Surviving are his three children, Edward Whaley Bailey of Wadmalaw Island, Anne Bailey Seymour of Charleston and Ralph Bailey of Summerville, and his three grandchildren, Grace Bailey, Ralph Bailey and Caroline Seymour. Services will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Markley Chapel at Christ Church Episcopal with the Rev. Dr. Robert Dannals officiating. Burial will be Saturday at 11 a.m., at Trinity Episcopal Church Cemetery in Edisto Island, S.C. In lieu of flowers
