ALLEN H. WELDON, 71, of MIDDLETOWN (NJ), died Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Roper Medical Center, Charleston, S.C. Born in Plainfield, he grew up in Fanwood and attended Scotch Plains High School. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from The Citadel, Charleston, S.C., and his master’s degree from Seton Hall University. He served in Korea as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army. After his honorable discharge from active service, he was employed in the insurance industry, and he went on to a long and distinguished career as a history teacher in the Freehold Regional High School district. He taught at Freehold, Howell and Marlboro high schools before retiring in 1992. He moved to the Isle of Palms, S.C., in 1998, where he served on the board of the United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his wife, Victoria. Surviving are his son, Douglas his grandchildren, Scott and Christina his brother, Edwin and his sister, Mary VanDeusen. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel at Fairview Cemetery, Route 35, Middletown. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Cancer Society.
