William Buchanan Moore, 83, of Florence, SC, widower of Annelle Ward Moore, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at the Heritage Home of Florence. Mr. Moore was born in McClellanville on February 15, 1930, a son of the late William Buchanan Moore and Gertrude Leland Moore Miles. He was a 1954 graduate of The Citadel and completed his post-graduate work at the University of Syracuse, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Florida State University. Mr. Moore was a retired U.S. Air Force Captain and Deputy Director for Systems Defense with the United States Defense Intelligence Agency. He received many awards and commendations from the United States government and the U. S. Air Force. Mr. Moore also has several patents filed with the U.S. Patent Office, one of which is “Methods and Apparatus for Verifying the Output of Automatic Print Readers and for Correcting Errors Introduced by the Print Reader.” He was a member of Lake City Baptist Church. Surviving are: the mother of his children, Ouida Moore, of McLean, Va.; two daughters, Willa Cooke (James) of Crofton, Md. and Leah Puhlick (Brian) of Springfield, Va.; and three granddaughters, Carolina, Alexandria, and Julianna Cooke, all of Crofton, Md. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Moore was predeceased by his step-father, Leroy Edward Miles. Memorial services will be held at two o’clock at the graveside in New Wappetaw Presbyterian Cemetery in McClellanville on Monday, March 3, 2014. Officiating will be Rev. Shane Patrick and The Rev.
