Michael Scott “Mike” May, 47, husband of Linda Lasley May, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 12, 2013. Mr. May was born in Pinehurst, NC, to Clellon Duke May and Sheila Dawn Tarlton May. He formerly worked for Fluor-Daniel and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rome, GA and was an alumnus of The Citadel. He played and coached for the U.S. Rugby League. Mike served as the head coach of the women’s rugby teams at both Furman University and Clemson University. He was a National Rugby Association Certified Training Coach and assisted many teams in the development of their rugby programs. Surviving, in addition to his wife and parents, are a step-son, Matthew Garrett; a step-daughter, Amber Garrett; a brother, Bryan May and wife Connie; and two beloved nephews, Andrew and Matthew May. A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday on the rugby pitch at Clemson University (the club field). The family will receive friends following the service and would like to encourage everyone to dress casually in Mike’s honor. Memorials may be made to the Col. Harvey M.
