A funeral service will be held Saturday for George M. Keryan of Eden, Utah, formerly of Wheatland. He passed away at 1 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2013, in Intermountain Hospice, Eden, after an extended illness. He was 82. Mr. Keryan was born Nov. 23, 1930, in Sharon to Peter and Mildred Gaspic Keryan. He graduated in 1949 from Farrell High School, having played football for the Farrell Night Riders, and attended The Citadel in South Carolina, where he played football until suffering a knee injury. Mr. Keryan was the chief of police for Wheatland, served in the police department of the City of Farrell and was a Wheatland borough councilman. He was a member of the former Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Farrell. George was an avid golfer and hunter and loved bowling and playing cards. He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers. His wife, the former Shirley Moder, whom he married Nov. 10, 1951, survives in Eden. He also leaves two sons, Philip Keryan and his wife Patricia, Hermitage; and Paul Keryan and his wife Connie, Liberty, Utah; four grandchildren, Brandon Keryan and Ethan Keryan, both Hermitage; Felicia Keryan Pasquerilla, Pittsburgh; and Nisha Keryan Haley, Duvall, Wash.; and two great-grandchildren, Adaline and London Haley. He was preceded in death by his parents; and six brothers and three sisters.
