Thomas Francis Hogan III, 63, of Fayetteville, GA., passed away on February 8, 2013. He was born on June 27, 1949. Tom attended Hardy Prep in Chicago and then St. Thomas Military Academy in Minnesota. In 1971, Tom graduated from the Citadel in Charleston, S.C. His military career began in 1973, where he was a Military Police Commander at Ft. Lee, VA. In 1978, he became a Public Affairs Officer and a Deputy Provost Marshall in Frankfort, Germany. In 1982-1983, he was a Criminal Investigative Field Officer at the Presidio, in San Francisco, CA. From 1983-1986, he was a Media Relations Officer and also a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. From 1986-1991, he was a Professor of Military Science at Berry College in Rome, GA. In 1991, he became a Joint Counter Drug Operations Officer at Ft. Gillem, GA. He retired as a Major in the U.S. Army in 1996. After retirement Tom became a community volunteer at Fayetteville Senior Center, and taught driving classes for AARP. He is survived by his sister, Patricia of Scottsdale, AZ; one niece, four nephews and his beloved life partner, Lori (Munchkin) Muoio. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church, 591 Flint River Road, Jonesboro, GA., 30238. Father John Koziol will officiate.
