Violet Regan Farrell, 84, of Georgetown, S.C. died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Farrell was born in Roxboro, N.C. on October 2, 1928, the daughter of the late Isaac Verne Regan and Pallie Dunn Regan, and widow of Charles Roy Farrell Jr. She and Charles were married on March 23, 1950. Mrs. Farrell was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved and enjoyed her family, friends, education and nature. She graduated from Peace College and Erskine College, and also graduated with a Master of Education degree from The Citadel. Moving to Georgetown in 1966, Mrs. Farrell continued her career in special education with the Georgetown County School District. Over the next 26 years, Mrs. Farrell taught, coordinated, and directed special services. She was the first director of special services in Georgetown County and developed special education curriculum which was used worldwide. Mrs. Farrell was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, William MacDonald Regan. Surviving are a daughter, Deborah Farrell Seale (her friend, David Morris) of Georgetown; a son, Charles Regan Farrell (Sue) of Laurel Hill, N.C.; and four grandchildren, John Robert Seale (his friend, Melinda Lambert) and William Regan Seale, both of Georgetown, Charles Regan Farrell Jr. of Brewster, N.Y., and James Edwin Farrell of Ithaca, N.Y. The memorial service was held at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church on June 3, 2012 at 2 p.m. Immediately following the service, the family received friends in the Family Life Center. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to: The Violet R. Farrell Scholarship, CEC Coastal 757, c/o Special Services, Georgetown County School District, 2018 Church St., Georgetown, S.C. 29440 or to the National Spasmodic Torticollis Association, c/o Orange Coast Memorial Center, 9920 Talbert Ave., Fountain Valley, C.A. 92708.
