Andrew William Holmes, 43, of St. Augustine, FL passed away Friday, April 13, 2012. He is survived by Carol (Hickey) Holmes – his wife of ten years – and his two daughters. Andrew was born in Huntingdon, PA, and is survived by his parents, Robert and Barbara Holmes; by his siblings, Laura Holmes (Graham Creasey), Robert Holmes (Julie Holmes), and William Holmes; by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews; and by innumerable friends. Andrew graduated from Huntingdon Area High School in 1987, where he received several prestigious awards in his senior year. Upon graduation from high school, he attended Fork Union Military Academy, where he was a letterman in Varsity Football and was awarded Cadet of the Year by the staff and alumni. Andrew went on to attend and graduate from The Citadel Military Academy in 1994, where he received ROTC leadership training for four years, received the Player of the Year award in Varsity Football, and wrestled for three years in Varsity Wrestling. Andrew was a big-hearted, kind, genuine, and generous man who deeply loved his family, was sincerely committed to his friends, and intensely lived his life. Andrew was a devoted husband, father, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 19, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Phillip Gore, on Friday, April 20, 2012, 10 a.m., at Christ’s Church, 6045 Greenland Rd, Jacksonville, FL.
