Donald D. Donmoyer, 96, of Hemingway, S.C., passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at his residence. Born in Pine Grove, Nov. 19, 1914, he was a son of the late Ray and Stella Schnoke Donmoyer. He was a 1932 graduate of Pine Grove High School and a 1950 graduate of the Citadel. Mr. Donmoyer proudly served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a master sergeant. He was a civil engineer and a teacher. He also served as a Scoutmaster in Pennsylvania, was treasurer of Folly Grove Community Center and treasurer of Pee Dee Baptist Church. He was a member of Center Baptist Church. Donald was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 1/2 years, Vernette Lawrimore Donmoyer. He was a loving father and grandfather who will be missed very much by his family. Surviving are his sons, David L. Donmoyer Letizia and Snow R. Donmoyer; and grandchildren, Erin Donmoyer and Juan Diego Donmoyer. Funeral services, conducted by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pee Dee Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Pine Bluff Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Helen Keller Foundation, 1201 11th Avenue South, Suite 300, Birmingham, AL 35205. Tags: 1950
