John J. Hilton III, of Hollywood, passed peacefully at his home in Hollywood, South Carolina, on March 25, 2011 while surrounded by his loving family and friends. John was known for his wit and charm and will be missed by many. John leaves behind his wife Linda Teasley Hilton, daughter Laura Hilton James and husband Robert, and two grandchildren Zachary Thom and Ella Riley of North Charleston, SC. John is predeceased by his parents, John J Hilton, Jr. and Lucy Neff Hilton. John also leaves his brother Cameron T. Hilton and wife Janet of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Cameron’s daughter Katherine A. Thom Hilton of Denver, Colorado. He leaves his sister-in-law Marsha Teasley Muse and husband John, their son Jacob and grandson Dalton of Hanahan, SC. John also leaves his nieces Amanda R. Teasley of Washington State, and Vanessa T. Keyes and husband Steven of Dunedin, Florida. John, a graduate of the Citadel, served his country as a submariner for six years in the United States Navy. He then had a long and successful career in Charleston as a home-builder. Words are inadequate to express the loss each of us will feel by John’s passing. Friends and family are invited to gather on Monday, March 28th at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home at 7113 Rivers Avenue in North Charleston. Visitation with the family will be held from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m., with funeral services following immediately afterward.
